If your Coastal Yachtmaster is less than a year old, you can “upgrade” to a Deck Officer Class VIII certification. The Deck Officer Class VIII (DOVIII) is a professional qualification that allows you to begin working in Sweden’s commercial maritime sector. Whether you plan to operate a boat taxi, work as a professional fisherman, or run a private charter business, DOVIII provides the essential foundation. The course covers a wide range of maritime topics, including safety and first aid, fire prevention, navigation rules, radar, and radio technology (SRC).

After completing DOVIII, many continue with other professional courses, such as Engineer Officer Class VIII and Fast Craft Operating.
